OET

The OET has been adopted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, NHS Trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups as the appropriate English qualification for medical and care staff.

Like IELTS, it assesses ability in reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. However, the leading medical governing bodies have recognised that OET offers:

    • Specific and medically targeted language for healthcare professions.
    • Improved communication between international staff and their colleagues.
    • Effective interaction between overseas health professionals and their patients, carers and relatives.
    • Evidence of a high level of English in a medical context.

Our in-house programme delivers an intensive short course prior to sitting the OET which enables the candidate to:

    • Approach the OET with confidence and become independently competent in a short period of time.
    • Communicate naturally in an appropriate manner with patients, their care givers and families.
    • Convey written and spoken information to colleagues effectively and professionally.

Our training course is accompanied by supporting packages:

    • Initial assessment of candidate level.
    • Progress tests to monitor exam readiness and development.
    • Open access masterclasses for each sub-test.
